A Parent Carer journey from NSPCWT's brilliant Leanne: 

My name is Leanne, I am one of the Peer Support workers for NSPCWT. 

I am a parent carer for my 13 year old son who is diagnosed with pathological demand avoidance(PDA) sensory processing disorder, auditory processing disorder and hypermobility. 

PDA comes under the autistic spectrum and is anxiety driven. It has a huge impact on what my son is able to do on a daily basis. No two days are the same, sometimes the anxieties are so strong that he is unable to do the things he loves the most. 

🌿His passions are music, animals, wildlife and horticulture. He uses his music to help self regulate when things are tricky. 

✨It does have a huge impact on me as a parent carer however it gives me insight and understanding to be able to offer support to other parent carers✨
