Autism & Eating Difficulties

This is a special event for parent carers in North Somerset.

Are you a parent with a child under or over eating and want to know what helps?

Food and eating can be massive issues for autistic people; with things, such as sensory issues and anxiety, leading to very restricted diets.

In this training we will cover:

  • Sensory sensitivities and their role in eating problems

  • How the need for control impacts eating in autism

  • Conditions that can cause eating difficulties

  • Mental health and wellbeing's role in eating

  • Eating disorders such as Pica, Anorexia, and Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder

  • Strategies that work to help autistic children

Join us and Loren Snow for a 1.5 hour training session that will be sure to give you some great strategies on how to help your autistic child.

This is a free training event for parent carers of children with additional needs and/or disabilities within North Somerset. This event is also open to professionals who work with children/young people with additional needs and/or disabilities in North Somerset. Priority on place allocation will be given based on the criteria above.

We would like to thank the Pears Foundation whose philanthropic support of NSPCWT has made this training freely available. The funding is being granted through Pears Foundation’s trusted, long-term Partners to ensure funding gets to frontline organisations and their communities.

The funding is part of the Government’s £750m charities package.
