Dyslexia Q&A

If you have a child or work with children with additional needs or disabilities, and they have dyslexia or you have concerns that they may have dyslexia, join us for a condensed training session with Sue Willis with act4send.

Dyslexia is a learning difficulty which primarily affects reading and writing skills. However, it does not only affect these skills. Dyslexia is actually about information processing. Dyslexic people may have difficulty processing and remembering information they see and hear, which can affect learning and the acquisition of literacy skills. Dyslexia can also impact on other areas such as organisational skills.

Throughout this training, we will support you to identify and support your child with dyslexia and will give practical advice on ways to support children with a variety of difficulties.

You will receive a 20-30 minute condensed training on the subject, the rest of the time is for you to ask your own specific questions that relate to your child or young person.

The trainer, Sue Willis from Act4SEND, has a vast wealth of experience in the field of inclusion. She has worked as an Advisory Teacher since 2013. Previously she taught in schools for 14 years and was a Special Needs Co-ordinator for 8 years. Sue has studied Specific Learning Difficulties through a Postgraduate Diploma and is a qualified dyslexia and dyscalculia assessor. She also has experience of tutoring as a dyslexia specialist teacher.

North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together are incredibly excited to extend our training offer with more diverse topics to benefit you and your families.
