North Somerset Parent Carers are extremely excited to introducing training to parent carers within North Somerset on Positive Handling Training For Primary Age Children. We bring you this training with Intelligensa Ltd who are experts in the field of behaviour and train across schools and many other industries within the UK. Their trainers are all highly qualified and we are so excited to experience what they have to offer.
Please note when booking on to this course that it is a practical session. Please wear appropriate clothing such as trainers and stretchy comfortable clothing. You will be required to complete a 1 hour long online course prior to the practical that you will need to complete in your own time. If you do not complete this you will not be able to attend the practical.
The aim of this training is to give parents practical ways to safely handle their child when all other de-escalation methods have failed.
Course aim: To be able to safely and lawfully conduct physical interventions.
Positive Handling is a system of safe holding techniques, used as a last resort when de-escalation skills have failed, where young people are safely held until they can hold their own emotions, and by doing so prevent them harming themselves or others.
This blended course allows you to complete Session 1 in 60 - 90 minutes of online training, in your own timeframe, in as many sessions as necessary.
Session 1 - Course content (online):
• The use of force
• The Health & Safety at Work Act,
• The Human Rights Act
• The Education and Inspections Act
• Clarification of techniques that should not be used following DfE guidelines
• Avoiding and detecting positional asphyxia
Session 2 - Course content:
Dedicated to the instruction and practice of:
• Positive Handling, Safe Holding and low level Physical Intervention techniques.
