Understanding Puberty in Boys- SEN specific

North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together are pleased to invite parent carers in North Somerset to free online training with Julie Alderson on Understanding puberty in boys.

Within this training we will look at how boys with additional needs or disabilities can be effected by puberty, and how you can support them through their change.

We will support you in noticing what changes are hormonal and typical for a teenager, and how it may effect the additional needs of your young person.

Hormones in teenagers can often cause frustrations for the young person, and with additional needs this may become challenging for parents so we hope to be able to give useful advice on this.

Supporting your SEND young person with sexual education is important, and we will give you the appropriate guidance and support to navigate this as parents.

Within this training will be a big chunk of time for you to ask your own specific questions about your young person, as each child is different we understand that you will all have your own challenges or concerns arising.

This is a free training event for parent carers of children with additional needs and/or disabilities within North Somerset. This event is also open to professionals who work with children/young people with additional needs and/or disabilities in North Somerset. Priority on place allocation will be given based on the criteria above.

We would like to thank the Pears Foundation whose philanthropic support of NSPCWT has made this training freely available. The funding is being granted through Pears Foundation’s trusted, long-term Partners to ensure funding gets to frontline organisations and their communities.

The funding is part of the Government’s £750m charities package.
